Of the 5% nitrogen, 3.5% is water-insoluble and released gradually by soil microbes, with 1.5% water-soluble for a steadier start, so feeding is even across the long tomato season with no flush or burn.

Fed into the planting hole and side-dressed monthly through bloom and fruit set, it keeps the supply steady right when tomatoes need it.
