Product Description

Steady, Slow Feeding for Citrus — Fruit and Foliage Without the Surge

Old Cobblers Farm Wicked Organics Citrus Fertilizer is a blended organic plant food formulated for citrus trees and other fruiting plants, in the ground or in pots. Its 4-6-4 analysis is built from organic and mineral sources, and its nitrogen is deliberately split — of the 4% total, 2.5% is water-insoluble and released slowly by soil microbes, with 1.5% water-soluble for a steadier start. That slow-release character is exactly what citrus wants: a steady supply that feeds fruit and foliage without overstimulating leafy growth at the expense of fruiting. The 6% phosphate supports root systems and flower-bud formation, and the 4% potash supports fruit size, flavor, and overall vigor.

It's a particularly good match for container-grown citrus — patio lemons, dwarf oranges, potted limes — where confined roots are easily burned by harsh fertilizers. Because this blend is slow-release and non-burning, it feeds potted trees gently and steadily, season after season. In the ground, it suits young trees being established and mature trees being maintained, and it works beyond citrus on other fruiting plants like figs and pomegranates.

Feed in early spring before growth begins, and again in late summer to support continued health and fruiting; container citrus can be fed lightly every 4–6 weeks through the growing season. One ingredient note: this blend contains animal protein meals and bone char, so it is not a vegan product, and like other bone- and protein-based feeds it can attract pets; incorporate it and store it securely.

Key Benefits

Slow-release, no surge — The 2.5% water-insoluble nitrogen releases slowly through microbial breakdown — a steady supply that feeds fruiting without a vegetative surge.

Safe for container citrus — Slow-release and gentle, so it's safe for the confined, easily-burned roots of patio and dwarf citrus in pots.

Roots and flower buds — 6% phosphate supports root systems and flower-bud formation — the foundation of a productive tree.

Supports fruit quality — 4% potash supports fruit size, flavor, and color across citrus varieties.

Citrus and beyond — Lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, mandarins, kumquats — plus figs and pomegranates and other fruiting plants.

Feeds the soil too — Organic ingredients feed the soil's microbial life for long-term fertility and resilience.

Where to use it: lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, mandarins, kumquats, and other citrus — in-ground and container — plus figs, pomegranates, and other fruiting plants.

Application Instructions

-General application: 2–3 lbs per 100 sq ft
-Citrus trees: 1 lb per 2 ft of canopy diameter — apply 2–3 times per year
-Container citrus: 2–3 tablespoons per gallon of soil, every 4–6 weeks during the growing season
Timing:
-Early spring: before growth begins, for the new flush and bloom
-Late summer: to support continued health and fruiting
Steps:
1. Spread evenly under the drip line of the tree, where the feeder roots are — not against the trunk.
2. When applying near mulch, temporarily pull the mulch back, apply, then replace it for faster nutrient absorption.
3. Water thoroughly after application to start the microbial breakdown that releases the nitrogen.
4. Feed 2–3 times per year for in-ground trees; container citrus every 4–6 weeks in the growing season.
When and how often: early spring and late summer for in-ground trees (2–3 times/year); every 4–6 weeks for container citrus during active growth.
What NOT to do: do not pile it against the trunk, do not over-feed potted citrus (little and regular beats heavy), and do not leave it surface-exposed where pets can reach it.

Ingredients

A blended organic and mineral formula derived from:
-Elemental Sulfur — Supplies sulfur as a nutrient and gently conditions soil.
-Animal & Vegetable Protein Meals — Slow-release organic nitrogen released by microbial breakdown (the water-insoluble fraction). Note: includes animal-derived protein meals — this product is not vegan.
-Natural Sulfate of Potash — Natural potassium source for the 4% potash (fruit size, flavor, vigor).
-Natural Nitrate of Soda — A natural nitrate source contributing the water-soluble nitrogen fraction.
-Bone Char — Supplies phosphate and calcium; animal-derived (calcined bone).
