To feed once true leaves appear, add a balanced fertilizer such as our Triple 20 (20-20-20), or choose the Grower’s Seed Start Kit (this kit plus Triple 20). To pot up seedlings, add the Garden Starter or Seed & Transplant Grow Kit, or choose the Ultimate Kit. When sowing, follow each seed’s light and depth needs — surface-sow light-dependent fine seeds (e.g., petunia, impatiens) and leave them uncovered or barely dusted; cover larger seeds with a thin layer of vermiculite. Pre-moisten the media fully, since soilless mixes can be hydrophobic when dry, and watch surface moisture closely.
