Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral that expands when heated into a lightweight, sponge-like structure that absorbs and slowly releases water. Blended with Seed Starter Mix, it helps prevent the compaction and uneven drying that cause patchy germination in standard mixes — so every cell gets similar moisture and oxygen, which tends to translate into higher germination and more uniform seedlings.
