Build Strong Roots for New Grass, Sod and Overseeding
Old Cobblers Farm™ Wicked Growth Early Season Lawn Booster 6-16-12 is a starter fertilizer made for the early stages of lawn growth. The three numbers — 6-16-12 — are the NPK ratio: 6% nitrogen (N) for controlled top growth, 16% phosphorus (P) to drive root development, and 12% potassium (K) for turf strength and stress tolerance. That high phosphorus is what sets a starter apart — it is the nutrient young grass leans on most to establish strong roots.
New seed, fresh sod and overseeded areas all need to put down roots before they can fill in and thrive. This phosphorus-rich blend gives them that foundation. A portion of the nitrogen is slow-release — meaning it feeds gradually rather than all at once — for steady early growth without forcing soft, excessive top growth. It also supplies 1.2% magnesium (Mg), a nutrient that supports green color and overall turf health.
Where to use it: new lawns started from seed, sod installations, overseeding projects, lawns coming out of winter dormancy, and any turf that would benefit from extra root support in early spring or fall.
Key Benefits
• Phosphorus-Rich Starter: 16% phosphorus targets the root development new grass needs most.
• Built for Establishment: Made for new seed, sod and overseeding — not just routine feeding.
• Slow-Release Nitrogen Portion: Part of the nitrogen feeds gradually for steady, controlled early growth.
• Magnesium Included: 1.2% magnesium supports green color and turf health.
• Balanced Potassium: 12% potassium helps turf stand up to early-season stress.
• Simple Spreader Application: Even coverage at 10 lbs per 1,000 sq ft with a broadcast or drop spreader.
• Flexible Sizing: Bags from 5 to 20 lb cover 500 to 2,000 sq ft.
Best Uses
• New lawn establishment from seed
• Sod installation projects
• Overseeding existing lawns
• Early spring lawn care programs
• Fall lawn preparation
• Lawns needing extra root development
Important Notes / Safety
• Soil Test First: Always test your soil before applying any fertilizer. Over-application can harm plants and the environment.
• Conventional Fertilizer: This is a Wicked Growth product — a conventional/commercial fertilizer, not an organic product.
• Phosphorus & Local Rules: Some areas restrict phosphorus lawn fertilizer except for new seeding, sod, or a documented soil deficiency. Check your local regulations before applying.
• Water In: Water thoroughly after applying to move nutrients into the root zone.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep sealed.
• Coverage: All coverage estimates assume a single application at the recommended rate.

Application Instructions
Application Instructions
Step by step
1. Test your soil first when you can, so you apply phosphorus where it is actually needed.
2. Apply about 10 lbs per 1,000 sq ft (roughly 436 lbs per acre).
3. Spread evenly with a broadcast or drop spreader for uniform coverage.
4. Water thoroughly after application to move nutrients into the soil and root zone.
5. When to apply: once in early spring as a starter when the lawn begins active growth — or at the time of seeding or sodding.
6. A second application can follow 8–10 weeks later if additional feeding is desired.
7. Do not exceed the recommended rate.
What not to do
Do not exceed the labeled rate, and do not apply to a lawn that does not need phosphorus where local rules restrict it (see Important Notes).
